The history of the volcano is dotted with eruptions that have shaped its form. The legendary eruption of 1614 lasted 10 years, the longest in recorded history: the vines that produce this wine grow right on this lava flow. Nerello Mascalese is cultivated on black soil at high altitude, resulting in a red wine that is intense in aroma and elegant in structure.

Soils with perfect exposure and location, black due to lava sand and therefore extraordinarily rich in minerals with an abundant and large structure; surrounded by woods and more recent lava flows.

Espalier with spurred cordon and double spurred cordon pruning systems.

CULTIVATION METHOD
According to organic farming criteria and the SOStain® protocol; grassed soils with spontaneous flora to increase organic matter, promoting the vitality of soil microfauna; phytosanitary protection with minimal amounts of sulfur and copper; pest control with beneficial insects, sexual confusion, and the application of natural fortifiers such as zeolite, kaolin, and plant extracts.

This wine draws its flavorful strength and extraordinary aromas of medicinal herbs, hibiscus, and wild fennel from the lava sands. A bright and lyrical wine, it unfilteredly expresses the character and refinement of great mountain reds, but at latitudes close to Africa. The compact tannins are extracted with elegance. The sweetness and generosity of wild berries and currants mingle with aromas of incense and beeswax, while a slight, almost salty touch invites you to return to the glass.

A wine whose character allows for bold pairings with equally bold dishes. Game, truffle dishes, rockfish even with complex sauces, cheeses, and cured meats.
